offcuts asked: I never liked HP5 until I started printing. Negs don't scan well at all, but there must be something about the way it works with Ilford paper...

X100 went off to be fixed today. So far, Fuji UK have been very good - got the return packaging out to me straight away. Let’s see what happens next.
I went to the darkroom this evening with the intention of developing a load of C41 for Sarah but sadly it seems the C41 chemicals I opened in late November have gone off. As before, developer part C has turned from clear to purply-black.
I...

re: re: X100
Emailed Fuji - they’re going to send me prepaid packaging to return the camera for repair.
Shot some frames on the 35RC this morning - quite enjoyed doing so.

Re: X100
Last weekend it did a few funny things exposure-wise, but I just put that down to ‘X100 quirkiness’. This morning I couldn’t get it to expose sensibly, and this afternoon trying to take a photo of something boring for my thesis it was all over the place. This prompted further investigation… I’m not impressed. I’ve emailed Fuji directly, I await their response.

The Collection so far (by Will Miners)

So, I have more cameras than Will. How did that happen? (He took this for me).
This is my collection. Minus two digital SLRs. I need to sell some stuff. Correction: some more stuff.

streetportrait asked: Sup man, like your site. While looking through I noticed you had some self developed color photos (the colors look sick good btw). Would you mind going over the process, and equipment you used to develop them with? I only do bw myself. Thanks

Another question: does shooting digital feel wrong...
I’m enjoying the X100, but I’m definitely looking forward to loading up a roll in the 645 again…
Did getting into medium format ruin 35mm for you?
I think it might have done for me. I’ve made stuff I like on 35mm - just not for a long time.
At some point I need to load up the LX with some decent film and think carefully about 36 frames.
The calm before the storm...
Or ‘last weekend of freedom’. Writing-up proper starts tomorrow. It’s going to take a level of discipline and commitment to work that I know is going to be hard to achieve. And I’ve got to achieve it without falling into the trap of waking late and working late.
The final copy of a paper I’m presenting in late March was submitted on Friday, so this weekend seemed...

Will Miners finally made some pictures happen. I’m impressed at how good cheap colour negative film developed at ASDA can look sometimes…

Adventures in?
My Fuji X100 turned up today. In keeping with my intentions to have less stuff, I sold most of my infrequently-used Canon EOS lenses to fund its purchase.
So far, so good. It’s small, and you look through it to take pictures, rather than holding it at arms length. This is a good thing. I’ve pretty much entirely used the electronic viewfinder so far, although the optical finder is very...
A lot of the 35mm B+W I see posted online seems to be flat, washed out and lacking in crispness.
Ben’s latest stuff is none of that. Go have a look, he’s getting some great results with his new setup.
I’ve not shot a good roll of 35mm in a long time…

Digital?
I have slightly more than a Fuji X100’s worth of Canon digital SLR kit which I use once in a blue moon. I’ve no desire to go out and photograph with it, and it’s original raison d’ĂȘtre - photographing model rocket launches - is no longer something I spend any time doing.
Not only is the X100 temptingly shiny, but I rather like the idea of a digital camera that fits in a...
